WNBA: Video Break-down #14

There was a shot clock violation in this play.  The lead came in with a jump ball.

Understandably the shot clock horn is not as loud as we want.  Who’s primary would it be to recognize and call the shot clock violation?

In this situation, the lead was on coverage of the ball on the drive to the basket, before the shot clock violation happened.

The shot clock is all of our responsibility.  At that point, as the lead, we would assume that the trail and the slot would see and recognize the shot clock.

Your thoughts.

This is a double team play on the big.  Is it necessary to have double coverages as well on this play?

It looked like the trail was connected to the play.  At the same time, the lead had already rotated to accept the play.

On a double team, the trail should stay connected to the back-side of the play.

Your thoughts.
